Water-Saving Guide for Summer Fun

Water Saving Tips for Summer Fun

When the kids are bored and starting to get cabin fever from hanging out inside all day, water conservation might be the last thing on your mind.

However, there are ways you can enjoy outside summer fun and still save water at the same time.

All it takes is a little planning and creativity. So make sure your outside hose and sprinkler are in good working condition and try the following water-saving outdoor summer activities!
Turn the Hose into Limbo!
Everyone loves to limbo! If the limbo stick is a stream of water from the hose, even better! Crank up some fun music and let the kids limbo under the hose. In most cases, the structured limbo will turn into a fun free-for-all where everyone gets sprayed and everyone laughs a lot.

Get Creative with Some PVC Piping
Another way to make the most out of your hose it with some PVC piping. You can drill tiny holes into the piping and configure it any way your imagination takes you to create instant splash pad in your yard. Simply connect the pipe to the hose and watch your kids marvel at the water spurting from all directions!
Build Your Own Slip and Slide
If a trip to the store is out of the question, you can build your own amazing slip and slide at home!

Just take a painter’s tarp or some heavy-duty garbage bags taped together and place it on the ground making sure there are no stones or sharp objects underneath or nearby. Squirt a little dish soap on the surface and add a couple buckets of water for a fun slip and slide for all ages!
Fun with Sponges
Unlike water balloons, which can only be used once, a wet sponge is the perfect reusable water fight weapon. Give the kids some colorful sponges and place buckets of water around your yard for an amazing, and environmentally friendly water fight!

You can also create a fun minute-to-win-it style game by placing empty buckets at a distance away from a full bucket and challenge your family to move the water from the full bucket to the empty one using only a sponge. You’ll create lasting memories as you soak up water from one bucket and run it over to the empty bucket trying hard not to waste anything.
When All Else Fails, Run Through the Sprinkler
There are few activities that are so simple and create as much joy as running through the sprinkler. It’s the definitive summer activity.

Whether you and the kids are running through in your freshest swim attire or taking advantage of impromptu sprinkler fun in your skivvies, you will create memories your kids will cherish forever and pass on to their kids.

Running through the sprinkler is also a great two-for-one activity since it provides outdoor fun while also giving your lawn a little TLC on these hot, dry days.
